The Moretown Development Review Board (DRB) granted the town a conditional use permit, with conditions, for the new town garage project. At their May 5 meeting, Moretown Select Board members said they intend to move ahead with the land purchase, pending a financing plan.

Sugarbush's real estate president Bob Ackland is retiring after 13 years in the resort business. Ackland, who began his ski industry career with Sugarbush in 1995 and spent two years as the general manger of Mad River Glen, was one of the original founders of Summit Ventures NE LLC, the partnership that currently owns Sugarbush. He initially put together the investment group, headed by Win Smith, to purchase Sugarbush from the American Skiing Company in 2001.

Moretown man receives EPA Lifetime Achievement Award

Richard Valentinetti, director of the Air Pollution Control Division of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, received a Lifetime Achievement Environmental Merit Award last Tuesday, April 29, during EPA ceremonies in Boston’s Faneuil Hall. The day before, he had been honored at the State House in Montpelier by Governor Douglas.

Waitsfield schedules water project meetings

The Waitsfield Select Board will host a series of public meetings to inform voters about the revote on the proposed municipal water project. That project, voted down at Town Meeting, comes back in a revised format for a revote on June 10.
