Radkin. Simply, I feel sad that you have died. To others I can only say and understand that if you met him, there was something great there. To look at his hands, they told of the pain he took. I am shamed to think that loneliness, the greatest pain of all, may have taken him away too soon. I know it sounds cliche, but I played some music. And if there was ever a song to honor him it is "Bridge over Troubled Waters". The emphasis not on "troubled waters" but on "bridge"!
I knew Richard (Dick) when he was living with his parents in Greenfield. I was 18-19 at the time and was fascinated with his ability to play music, construct his first (?) little house on wheels with the tractor seat atop the 5 gallon bucket for the driver's seat. We once rode double on my white Welch pony while he sat backward and played his guitar. He spoke about liking Levi button-fly jeans and would go great distances to buy them at that time. I left this area in 1972 for Keene and then Rhode Island, and finally further & further away but I never forgot this most uniquely intelligent and very kind young man. My beliefs of the past 6 years would fit perfectly with his--except for the vegetarianism and I believe that's what did him in so early. It's my great loss to have lost touch with this man.
