Thunder in the Vicinity
Wind: 7 mph
To The Editor:
Last I knew state law required one to STOP when pedestrians were waiting by those florescent green signs indicating they wanted to cross the road. Apparently in Waitsfield many people are too tired of waiting to get past the construction holdups and no longer care to obey the law. I watched car after car after car headed north pass the young man waiting on Bridge Street this morning until there was no more traffic and he was finally able to cross Route 100.
Last night at the same area, I watched several cars pull out of Bridge Street while emergency vehicles were coming south from the fire department and ambulance station. All they managed to do was plug up an already congested area making their way to an accident scene even more difficult. Could have been your kid they were trying to help.
