To The Editor:
I read with interest Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. This novel inspires thought and questioning about the world that we live today. It provides each reader with insight about the position that man fills in the world and the ecological community. It touches on sensitive topics such as homelessness, poverty, and man's destruction of the world that are current in society. Topics that need a closer look as to why these are present today.
Reading this book has given me a fresh perspective on how humans evolved to their current status on this planet and what that status is doing to the health and future strength of numerous species. I now understand the "god complex" that man has taken on and the extent mankind would go to reach the level where he has absolute control and knowledge on what he has conquered.
I am not here to try and alter the way a person thinks and goes about their daily lives. All I try to convey is that there are other ways that people can live their lives. What is conveyed in the book is too sizeable and elegant to be summarized in my words.
Read it, it is sure to make you look at the way you are living your life.
