To The Editor:
Each spring, unobtrusively, the Valley's Mountain Gardeners -- a dedicated group living throughout The Valley -- transform areas of Waitsfield and Warren into beautiful mini-gardens.
These include the perennial garden at the entrance of the General Wait House, the two triangular islands at the intersections on either side of the Warren Church and, most spectacularly, the island at the Route 100/Route 17 intersection.
Never have I seen the latter look more beautiful than this year. And its strategic location ensures that everyone traveling through The Valley can't help but see it and enjoy its beauty.
How fortunate we are to have the Mountain Gardeners voluntarily working year after year to help make The Valley the special place that it is. But let's not take them for granted. The next time you see them planting, weeding or whatever, it would be nice to show our appreciation by stopping or at least slowing down to say "thank you."
