To The Editor:
My wife and I have known Barbara Stratton and Malcolm Appleton for close to 40 years and were Valley residents for almost two decades. There isn't a kinder, more decent, or more giving man around than Malcolm.
Malcolm has done so much for The Valley in contributing time and energy to various efforts for as long as he has lived there. The fact that your paper would publish a piece like the letter about "podiuming," adding insult to a serious injury, doesn't speak well for your paper or your editorial staff.
The Valley community (including The Reporter) should celebrate and be proud of the fact that a 70-year-old has achieved the state and national honors in his sport that he has. The guy is in Fanny Allen rehab recovering from a serious injury with a 16-inch titanium rod in his leg. Show a little judgment and decency.
