To The Editor:
In my letter last week about wild bush honeysuckle, I mistakenly wrote "loosestrife" instead of "honeysuckle" as the subject of a Harvard study. They did do studies on other invasives, including loosestrife, but our forests aren't affected by that, rather our ponds, ditches, often where there's water and where our valuable native cattails are growing. The useless but unfortunately pretty, purple loosestrife wipes them out.
A sample of the plant can be seen at the Waitsfield Post Office.
