To The Editor:

Kudos to The Valley Reporter for its extraordinary coverage of Hurricane Irene and its aftermath. In 50 years as a reporter and editor, I have rarely seen a natural disaster covered more extensively or perceptively.

The comprehensive articles were matched by extraordinary photographs in their descriptions of the devastation wrought by the hurricane, and the inspiring community spirit that saw Valley residents roll up their sleeves and pitch in to alleviate the damage. Your wonderful newspaper allows us to keep up with The Valley even though we're 500 miles away.
