To The Editor:
I live in Duxbury and I used to work at the Waterbury State Complex. Now, I am working in a space leased by the state at IBM in Essex Junction. As grateful as I am to have my job, this relocation has completely severed me from my community.
The flooding of the Waterbury complex was outside of anyone's control and the temporary relocation of Waterbury employees an obvious necessity. But deciding to bring state employees back to Waterbury is within our control and is an equal necessity, both for the Waterbury community and for the employees whose lives are built around working there.
I respectfully make this request of the Shumlin administration and the Legislature: Please don't put the State Complex decision off for months or years. Please commit to bringing state employees back to Waterbury, and please do it soon. With decisiveness, commitment and a focused investment of resources, this problem could be on its way to being solved.
