Wind: 14 mph
The annual Sugarbush Adventure Games, featuring the 29th running of the Sugarbush Triathlon, is only three days away... so it's time to ask the question: Iron class or Team division? Whatever the choice, it's time to trade in the treadmill for asphalt and start working on the waistline.
And just because she has a sense of humor, Mother Nature looks like she'll be sending some snow to this year's games. However, competitors seem undeterred by the possibility of a white weekend. Pre-registration for the event has already exceeded 300 participants, the highest amount of early registrants in years.
"The [potential] snow definitely isn't affecting people's excitement level," remarked Sugarbush event coordinator Laura Worthen. "It's an adventurous group that isn't worried about the possibility of a few flakes of snow."
This year's only four-event triathlon is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. this Saturday from the Warren School. The last opportunity to register will be Friday night at the Mt. Ellen Base Lodge from 5 to 8 p.m.
Anyone looking for some party souvenirs and a party or two is invited to call Laura Worthen and become a volunteer. Sugarbush Resort is looking for volunteers to assist in event production including race registration, staffing transition zones and rest points, and assist in race coordination. For their blood, sweat, and tears, volunteers will receive some goodies and have a party thrown in their honor. Call Laura at 583-6849 for details.
