The 31st annual Waitsfield PTA Ski and Skate Sale ran like a well-oiled machine, according to volunteer coordinator Krissa Hammond, who's run the sale for the past five years. Over 150 volunteers contributed to the PTA's largest fundraiser that covers a long list of WES programs and activities, including the winter ski program, the artists-in-residence program and the fifth- and sixth-grade trips to Boston.
Hammond said that the PTA had reached their fund-raising goal of $25,000
(the PTA budget) by noon on Saturday. Local restaurants and stores
donated food to feed the volunteers and vendors free of charge
throughout the course of the weekend.
"It's such a community event. We've worked really hard to get safe
equipment. I think the quality of the equipment has really gotten
better," Hammond said.
The core group of volunteers (Hammond, Amy Jamieson, Eva Frankel, Beth
Libby and Bear Simmons) oversaw the sale that drew more than 3,000
shoppers this year.
