‘Flowers’ by Amalia Veralli on exhibit at the Festival Gallery

The Festival Gallery in Waitsfield presents “Flowers,” a show of the photography of Warren art photographer Amalia Elena Veralli.

Amalia Veralli’s macro photography is complex. Focusing on one part of a flower, leaf or stamen, she explores the depth and color that one doesn’t see on one’s own. Her images are set upon a black background that further reveals their natural curves, color and form. “Often when photographing a flower, I’m aware of being transported to another realm in which my heart opens more fully…. My passion is to portray the otherworldly beauty of creation in my photographs and share that experience with others,” said Veralli.

Veralli has lived in Vermont for over 30 years, originally owning and operating Warren Village Pottery and pursuing black-and-white photography and now as a professional photographer. Her work has gained recognition in the world of photography and several of her macro images are in public and private collections around the country.

“Amalia’s photos are breathtaking! They drew me in the moment I saw her work,” exclaimed Jan Blittersdorf, president/CEO of NRG Systems, Inc. “She achieves a level of color, clarity and detail rarely seen in nature photos.”

Entering the Festival Gallery, one is struck by the colors. A delicate stem reaches up from the black background with a flower dancing on its end. In “Blue Eye” a yellow daisy fills the print, with petals glowing around the bluish tinged “eye.” In “Passion Flower,” vibrant petals of color contrast with the intricate center dusted with pollen.

“Flowers” runs through January 2 at the Festival Gallery. In the new year, the Festival Gallery will be showing “Intertwined,” a new exhibit of 12 fiber artists using fabric, paper, wood and thread in completely new ways. The Festival Gallery is located at 2 Village Square, Waitsfield. For more information call (802) 496-6682 or go to www.vermontartfest.com.
