Evelyn May Hall

Evelyn May Hall, 85, of Fayston, passed away peacefully at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin on Thursday evening, November 15, 2007. Born in Brunswick, Maine, on September 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Delia (Johnson) Ramsey. On January 12, 1941, she married John Samuel Hall in Maryland. John predeceased Evelyn on March 1, 1980.

Evelyn grew up in Brunswick, ME, and attended schools there. As a young woman, she began work for the Sears Co. in Brunswick and later was employed in manufacturing by the Bass Shoe Co.

Moving to Fayston in 1948, she and her husband worked as co-managers of the former Ulla Inn (now the Hyde Away Inn) on Route 17 for many years. More recently she worked as a housekeeper in the Mad River Valley until retirement.

In her leisure time, Evelyn enjoyed oil painting, reading, flower gardening and caring for the home that her husband built for them. An accomplished musician, Evelyn played the guitar and piano and was vocalist. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a much loved mother and "Gram."

Evelyn is survived by her two sons, John S. "Sonny" Hall Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Waterbury, Dennis "Babe" Hall and his wife, Linda, of Fayston; four grandchildren, Dawn Armstrong, Denise Hall, Cass Bresette and Sonja Bracey; three great-grandchildren, Karly Bresette, Sara Bresette and Joshua Rogers; three great-great grandchildren, Dylan and Piper Rogers and, soon to arrive, Isaiah Bresette; and a sister, Beatrice Everett of Brunswick, ME. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held from the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Tuesday, November 20, at 11 a.m. where friends called from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Spring interment will take place in the Bragg Hill Cemetery in South Fayston. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Woodridge Nursing Home Activities Fund, P.O. Box 550, Barre, VT 05641, or to the Food Shelf of one's choice. To send online condolences, please visit www.perkinsparker.com.
