Donald D. Ross

Donald D. Ross, 89, of Waterbury Center, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, April 20, 2012. Born in Springfield, MA, on New Year’s Day 1923, he was the son of the late Benjamin G. and Adele (Roberts) Ross. On July 1, 1966, Don married the former Jean Cummings in Concord, NH.

Don had a long and successful career in the food distribution and sales industry. For over 20 years he served as a representative for General Foods and then joined the food brokerage firm, Tilton Parker Inc. of Maine. He later was appointed district sales manager for Food Associates International and then worked as a sales and marketing consultant. Most recently he was appointed national sales manager for a Maine-based water company from which he retired.

A lifelong jazz enthusiast, he spent his youth as what he termed “an itinerant musician.” He dearly loved the game of golf and belonged to the Concord (NH) Country Club for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he and Jean spent time between Pinehurst, NC, New London, NH, and Waterbury Center, VT.

Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean C. Ross of Waterbury Center; his children, Nancy R. Brink and her husband Michael of Waterbury Center and David J. Ross and his wife Christine of Zurich, Switzerland; four grandchildren, Lexie Brink Pfister, Christian Brink, Preston Ross and Darius Ross; a great-granddaughter, Jane Rosli Pfister; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Don was predeceased by a brother, Robert A. Ross, and a sister, Martha A. Meacham.

A celebration of Donald Ross’s life will be held from the Church of the Crucified One, 20 Vermont Route 100 South, Moretown, VT, on May 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, P. O. Box 95, Waterbury Center, VT 05677. To send online condolences visit www.perkinsparker.com and Facebook. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
