The 2009 Green Mountain Stage Race begins this Friday, September 4, with a time trial starting at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 6:30 p.m. Due to the time trial, Flat Iron Road in Warren will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the day. | Please
keep this information handy as you -and your guests- travel to and from
the Valley this weekend. The Green Mountain Stage Race schedule is as
follows:
FRIDAY: Flat Iron Rd in Warren is closed from 8:30am-6:00pm. Bicycle
time trials will be held all day. Bikes will be released one at a time
at Flate Iron Rd. and will travel up Brook Rd, along East Warren Rd and
ending at Common Rd/East Warren Rd intersection in Waitsfield. Traffic
will be minimally affected. Please use caution and follow instructions
from road marshalls at intersections.
SATURDAY: Rt 2, Middlesex between Exit 9 and Waterbury will be EASTBOUND ONLY from 8:30am-4:30pm. Local traffic is allowed, but the one lane bridge is eastbound only. Interstate 89 northbound should be used to bypass that stretch.
SUNDAY: Route 17 is EASTBOUND only over the App Gap from Mad River Glen from 11:30am - 2:30pm. Racers will be climbing the gap to the finish. Eastbound traffic will
be slow during that period, please use caution, or avoid the 11:30-2:30
timeframe. Alternate route for westbound traffic would be either Rt 125
to Middlebury, or Rt 2 to Jonesville, then left on Huntington Rd.
