Mad Marathon launches Corporate Team Challenge

The mad Marathon and Mad Half have launched a Mad Corporate Team Challenge to benefit charities in the Mad River Valley.

Dori Ingalls, race director for the Mad Marathon, announced this week that all three-member corporate teams registering in the relay division of the 2012 marathon will be entered into the challenge. Furthermore, $25 of each registration fee will be donated equally to the three local nonprofit charities that are registered with the Mad Marathon and CrowdRise.

The nonprofits to benefit are the Mad River Valley Community Fund, Recovery Irene and Hannah’s House. The relay team with the best overall time will not only receive medals but also a one-of-a-kind pottery piece courtesy of Luke Iannuzzi, The Naked Potter, located in Waitsfield.

CrowdRise is an impact site started by actor and philanthropist Edward Norton that’s designed to make fundraising for the Mad Marathon easy and fun. All three of these marathon fundraising charities have registered with the site to raise money through runners of the event. However, even if someone is not running the race, donations can be made online at the CrowdRise site by linking to www.crowdrise.com/madmarathon.

The Mad Marathon, Mad Half and Three-Team Relay Division is set for July 8 this year. Along with the Corporate Challenge, race organizers have also added a Mad Half Walker category. Defined as the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon, the Mad Marathon course runs though the rural community of the Mad River Valley on back and dirt roads with views of the Green Mountains, rolling farmlands, quaint villages, historical barns, covered bridges and fields of Vermont cows. The inaugural run in 2011 hosted 1,200 runners from 46 states and 12 countries.
