350.org Climate Impacts Day brought locals and others to Waitsfield for Green Up day work, to bear witness to the impacts of climate change and to participate in 350Vermont's gathering and group photo on the Flemer Field on May 5. For the event, HigherMind MediaWorks, Waitsfield, worked with 350Vermontto capture video and photography for Climate Impacts Day.
HigherMind used a remote-controlled hexacopter mounted with a gyro-stabilized DSLR camera that shoots both still photos and videos to take the aerial shots. The hexacopter and camera together weigh about eight pounds, and it was flown up to about 300 feet to capture the landscape surrounding the human dot formed in Flemer Field. A two-person crew was dedicated to the flight, with one flyer controlling the craft and the second person monitoring the view of the camera and doing the shooting. There were also videographers on the ground recording the events and one made canoe trips through the village to capture the activities from the water.
HigherMind is editing the footage into a short documentary for 350.org and 350Vermont. For updates and trailers, visit 350Vermont and HigherMind MediaWorks on Facebook and “like” both pages.
