The pre-town meeting on Monday night, March 5, 2007, and the Town Meeting on March 7, was something to see and hear. Some of the comments made to the town clerk by voters of the town were mean and very cruel. Some of the information that was missing from the Town Report was not her fault but the fire department's for not submitting the information required in a timely manner. The audit is something that the select board schedules in advance but was not done in a timely manner.

Also, Susan has been very sick and to make her stand up and explain why she was not in the office for a few months and someone else was doing some of the work was not called for. Susan did not have to explain what her medical problem was. All she had to do was say that she was sick, but the voters in the town wanted her to be more specific.

I have lived in the town most of my life. I was born in this town and have lived with my family in this town for many years. My children, as well as myself, attended the schools in Moretown and at Harwood, but this is the first time that I was very embarrassed by this town and the people in it.

All this was from people that have known Susan for many years and that I thought were her friends.

Personally, I think the town and voters of Moretown owe Susan Goodyear, the town clerk, an apology.

Also, I hope the people that treated Susan this way do not have a friend or family member become sick like she is. Imagine how they would be treated by these people.
