Often I have lamented the bygone days of local newspapers which gave such excellent obituary and wedding coverage.  Of course I see now that <MI>The Valley Reporter<D> is still doing that humanitarian service.  I am a King, Phil's niece, and I have the same roots in Ely, MN, described in your article.  The most informative genealogical resource we have on the family is an obituary from a 1942 clipping, from the local newspaper of the tiny town, Coleraine, MN.  I believe such things are still kept and become valuable records.  Your "Senior Moment" of January 31, 2008 will be, for sure.
