The rationale apparently is that Waitsfield wants the town to be beautiful, that the entrance to the town should be a welcoming entrance.

Five years ago, I noticed that Jake's World Auto applied for a building permit. The permit stated that he was going to do some construction and wanted to put a temporary old trailer on the property. The construction consisted of his closing up the main door to the shop, converting an office into a bay and installing an overhead door. The building now has three overhead doors, all working bays and clearly no office.

The old trailer, became the office and was painted yellow to match the building and the sign denoting the business was placed on the trailer.

Somehow or other, the town officials, and just about everyone in Waitsfield has ignored the fact that this old yellow trailer sits as an eyesore as you enter the town of Waitsfield. I can't understand why the town has done nothing about causing that trailer to be removed. It's not a construction trailer, it never was a construction trailer, it was placed there as the office. It was painted to match the building and apparently the intent was that it should be a permanent fixture, which it obviously is, having been there five-plus years. There's a new owner now, and for some strange reason, the trailer is still allowed.

I really think it is an eyesore and if the board is going to be as particular as it has been with everyone else in town, they ought not to close a blind eye to the trailer or drive by with blinders on.
