To The Editor:

Editor’s Note: This letter was sent to Dick Kingsbury, owner of Kingsbury Construction.

Hi, Dick,

I want to let you know that I felt your work on Jim and Carol Groom’s wall this fall was outstanding. I want to personally thank you, Jim Despres, Devin Bayley and Jason Dunbar for an excellent team-driven project. Jim, Jason and Devin are true professionals. The project involved working in the river bed under stringent regulatory oversight to implement Bannon Engineering’s design for a geogrid reinforced river bank retaining structure. The structure utilized locally sourced stone product to fit the historic preservation district. The project was challenging given the tight tolerances involved in fitting the heavy stone and geogrid materials in place. The landowners were especially appreciative of the extra effort and skill of your crew. Work was completed on schedule and within budget.

The project has been nominated for the 2012 Vermont Public Space Award. The VTPSA is an award to encourage open space or other endeavors to create, preserve or enhance open space in Vermont. Submissions may include but are not limited to open space associated with Historic Preservation, Public Interiors, Community Planning, Campus Planning and Design, Recreation Planning and Design and Transportation Planning. Judges include prominent Vermont design professionals and state and local government officials.

The wall has already become a landmark in the community. I look forward to designing and implementing many more projects with you and your team with a similar outcome in the future.
