To The Editor:

So much is wonderful about living in the Mad River Valley. I am writing about a new happening that can definitely be added to that list. This past December, the Waitsfield United Church of Christ started hosting Community Dinners. They are held on the last Friday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Church on Main Street. The dinners are free of charge. Numerous individuals, businesses and organizations have been donating food and helping with the cooking and serving.

The community dinners meet many different needs. They provide a way to stretch your budget, to have a nutritious and delicious meal, to meet new people or to become reacquainted with old friends. People from all walks of life and of all ages attend. There are new residents to The Valley and folks whose families have been here for generations. Some people arrive as a group or with family, but many people come in alone. If you do come alone, you won’t be alone for long.

If you are looking for a free meal and/or some good company, join us at the Waitsfield United Church this Friday, March 29, at 5:30 for a dinner of shepherd’s pie (made with the Kenyon’s beef), salad, freshly baked bread and dessert. You can call 496-4646 if you need a ride. I encourage people to come. Everybody is welcome.
