To The Editor:

This letter is addressed: Dear Community Members,

Harwood Union Peace Alliance is a student organization that is committed to promoting peace locally and internationally through service projects. We are currently involved in two projects involving two different populations in our area. Last year we collected and donated garden supplies and seeds to the Association of Africans Living in Vermont (AALV). In addition, we helped Bhutanese refugees build rice paddy fields at their community garden in Burlington. This year we would like to help migrant workers within Washington County build home gardens as a source of food and recreation. Any donations of gardening supplies and seeds would greatly help us in our efforts to support these people in our community.

Please look for donation boxes at East Warren Community Market in Warren, Sunflower Natural Foods in Waterbury Center and Harwood Union High School in South Duxbury. The drive ends on May 19. Below is a list of the main supplies we are in need of.

Supplies: new or used wheelbarrows, hoses, spray nozzles and hose fixtures.

Seeds: eggplant, large tomatoes, habanero peppers, cilantro, cucumber and carrots
