The annual Harwood gym show is approaching with more than 20 gymnasts performing in this post-season extravaganza that has been going on for more than 25 years. This year's theme is "Around the World" so be ready to hear and see moves, music and costumes that are reminiscent of far corners of the earth.

Harwood senior Frankie Bennett says, "Gym show is just a really fun time when we don't have to worry about scores and competition. We can go out there and show the community what we've worked hard on all season!"

Bennett (captain) and two other seniors, Courtney Nelson (captain) and Harley Pecor, will showcase their skills in this final Harwood performance. The Harwood varsity girls' gymnastics team placed fourth in the state this season at Essex High School on February 14. The middle school team includes Crossett Brook and Harwood Union Middle School students.

Coach Anissa Touchette says, "This is truly a grand finale. It's a fabulous opportunity for young gymnasts and their parents to see middle and high school students performing at advanced levels on the bars, vault, balance beam and floor. There are group and dual routines plus other unusual performances that you wouldn't see in a typical meet. Our show is fast moving and shouldn't be missed."

Three group routines, one by varsity, one by middle school and one combined, a 50/50 raffle and an extensive bake sale are part of the event. Flash photography is encouraged, another difference from a typical meet.
