En route to his second consecutive title in the annual terrain park competition, Derrick also aced the three parts of the Friday, March 13, finals, scoring the most points in two separate rail jams as well as a jump jam. The top three finishers in each of the eight season-long Night Rider divisions earned cash and prize packages from series sponsors.

Several special awards were also presented following the Night Rider Finals. Judd Grimes, 23, of Burlington was presented with the Snowboarder Rookie of the Year Award for his efforts in his first year of competition. Dan Hibbs earned the Freestyle Skier Rookie honors.

Douglas Fay, 10, from Richmond, was given the Sam Cohn Night Rider of the Year Award. The award, presented in conjunction with the Sam Cohn Foundation, is named in honor of a promising young Bolton Night Rider competitor who died in 2006 and is given to the skier or rider who exemplifies the Night Rider spirit like Sam did.

Bolton Valley's Night Rider Series, held on Wednesday nights from early January through mid March, is in its fifth year.
