Two Harwood wrestlers placed first in their respective weight classes at Middlebury High School’s 41st annual Hubie Wagner Invitational Wrestling Tournament for the second year in a row. At the December 28 meet in Middlebury, senior Kyle Streeter took first place again this year in the 220-pound weight class. Junior Kaegan Pearsall placed first at the December 28 tournament in the 170-pound weight class and took first last year at 182 pounds. Junior Joe Gates placed seventh at 160 pounds.

Kyle Streeter won each of his matches against Thomas Langevin, Middlebury; Kyle Foust, Shaker, NY; Jacob Parker, Shaker, NY; and in the finals against Brandon Hallock of Coho, NY.

Pearsall won each of his matches against Logan Alaxanian, Shaker, NY; Robby Brangon, CVU; Mike Wetzel, Mount Abraham; Ryan Paquin, Vergennes; and in the finals against TJ Simpson of Vergennes.

Harwood freshmen wrestlers Travis Streeter, David Howes and Brandon Hamilton also participated in the tournament with Streeter and Howes winning two matches each.
Thirteen Vermont teams and four New York teams participated in the tournament. Traditionally a two-day event, tournament organizers canceled the first day, Thursday, December 27, due to severe winter weather.
The Harwood wrestling team’s upcoming schedule includes a tournament at Otter Valley on January 5. Harwood will host Colchester, Essex and Enosburg at home on January 10 at 6 p.m. Junior varsity will travel to Mount Abraham High School and varsity to Pelham, New Hampshire, on January 12.
