The annual Green Mountain Cultural Center's (GMCC) photo show is held each August in the Round Barn on East Warren Road in Waitsfield and is a part of the Vermont Festival of the Arts. This show is unique in that all members of the community are invited to participate. This opens the show up to talent that might not otherwise be recognized.

"The most interesting part of this show is the opportunity to see students and first-time exhibitors who may be honing their style next to professionals who have mastered their craft. It's not easy to find a venue for lesser-known photographers to exhibit their work in an area with the kind of art appreciators who are drawn into The Valley by the Festival of the Arts. Our mission in this show is to bring artists to the public's eye and to enrich the public by offering images that are fresh and thought-provoking," says Julie Parker, a member of the Green Mountain Cultural Center and one of the organizers of the show.

Photographers are invited to submit up to three framed images, delivered to the lower level of the Round Barn on Tuesday, July 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. In 2014, more than 60 photographers displayed both film and digital prints covering a wide range of subject matter and techniques. There will be an opening reception for the public on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. during which many of the photographers will be on hand to answer questions about their work. Refreshments will be served.

The photo show is located in the lower level of the event space at the Inn at the Round Barn in Waitsfield. A National Register of Historic Places landmark, the Round Barn was designed as an ultra-efficient dairy barn when it was built in 1910. It was fully renovated about 30 years ago.

The show runs August 3 through Labor Day, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. The exhibition is occasionally closed during weekends to not interfere with scheduled events at the Round Barn. Check the calendar on the Round Barn website for further information. Admission is free. For more information and entry forms, visit the GMCC website at www.greenmountainculturalcenter.com.
