To The Editor:

Eight summers ago I recall putting together three garage sales at my parents’ home in Henrietta, NY. My mother had passed away and my father, Floyd, was getting ready to move to Warren and live with us. I recall it was therapeutic in some ways to clear out my mother's belongings finding the gems amongst all the items. I also recall that some of those items would generate wonderful stories with my father and those who were shopping.

My father passed away this past July and I have been preparing for my first Vermont garage sale. In honor of Floyd D. Swink, I will be donating 25 percent of the proceeds to the American Veterans Association. My father served in WWII from 1940 to 1945. He spent his time in northern Africa and Italy. He was honored with a Purple Heart and several other awards for his distinguished service. His garage sale will take place this Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Prickly Mountain Road in Warren.

Follow the Plunkton Road detour signs to the garage sale signs. We hope to see you there.
