MLI waiting for state OK to accept contaminated soil |

The shipment of approximately 33,000 tons of contaminated soil from Massachusetts to the Moretown Landfill is on hold currently, while state solid waste program officials investigate the EPA's determination that the soil contaminated with dioxin is "non-hazardous."

Waitsfield makes first round of cuts for town orchard grant |

The town of Waitsfield, partnering with Whole Systems Design in Moretown and the Mad River Valley Planning District, has made the first round of cuts to receive grant funding for a town orchard.
The orchard will be created at the seven-acre Flemer field at the north end of Waitsfield Village. Select board vice-chair Charlie Hosford oversaw the grant application for the town. The Harwood Union High School's middle school wrestling team competed in the state championship meet on Saturday, February 27, and, according to athletic director Sue Duprat, "All in all, it was a great showing for Harwood wrestling." If it feels like spring, it means the Sugarbush Triathlon is just around the corner -- Sunday, April 11, to be exact. It's part of the Sugarbush Adventure Games, which also includes a Kids' Triathlon on Saturday, April 10. Registration, volunteer recruitment and final plans are underway.
