To The Editor:

Once again the town’s taxpayers are being led down the proverbial garden path by a special interests group trying to run the town government.

Like the “big pipe” wet dream to nowhere, which took three separate votes to pass it because of a few private self-interested parties refusing to take a no vote as an answer in this Valley.

Thus, because of about 33 voters we all ended up with the whole town dug up, 90 places hooked up to water, the town taxpayer debt at $670,000 and one woman left without her aquifer!

Now they can’t even construct a simple second ballot but appear to be muddying the waters on exactly what they want us to vote for.

Here’s a very easy ballot:

  1. Do you want a new town hall building costing $1.3 million at the Farm Stand? Yes or No.

  2. Do you want a rehab. town hall building costing $2.1 million at the old Methodist Church? Yes or No.

  3. Are you willing to pay for either of these choices by having the town secure a bond in the amount of the winning choice? Yes or No.

  4. Instead, would you prefer to rent new town office space? Yes or No.

P.S. Don’t be swayed by the possibility of a $750,000 grant – it may or may not be available. You have to stop being suckered into these big buck projects by the lure of a few grant dollars dangled in front of you. There is no free lunch. C.K.
