To The Editor:

Jennifer Peterson serves Waitsfield very well and with great dedication. In her eight years as town clerk, she has kept the town and residents' records safe and accessible despite the challenges of very limited vault space and the threat of flooding.

Her dedication to her position as town clerk was apparent on Sunday, August 28, 2011, as Hurricane Irene approached. She worked very hard with the fire department to move all the town's vital records up into the library and out of harm's way and then opened the office the next day.

As town treasurer, Jennifer competently handles the town finances which include tax billing and collection, payment of bills, processing payroll and managing cash flow.

Jennifer extended the town office hours by 1.5 hours per day. She introduced civics to the Waitsfield kindergartners by allowing them to vote on each year's town dog tags. Looking ahead, Jennifer plans to implement scanning of land records for research, as soon as space is available in the new town office.
