I assumed he was marking a new  road cave-in, so I stopped to see what the problem was. It turned out
he had stopped a motorist for speeding on a midweek day with practically no traffic on that road while everyone else in the
area was stretched trying to get back to normal.

If the sheriff's department can afford to send a patrolman out to hand out speeding tickets on a little used road, with all the
emergency problems facing the state, the barracks concerned must be overstaffed. Perhaps the number of officers and the barracks’ budget
should be reduced.
