To The Editor:

Waitsfield needs shake up. We have abandoned houses, trash piles, empty store fronts and shuttered farms along Route 100. Our drug store and one bank are gone; a second bank is leaving. Chains like Kinney, Peoples and TD do not close outlets in economically-thriving communities.

Waitsfield has no economic development/job creation strategy. The select board led by Paul Hartshorn voted to turn the only industrial-zoned acreage in The Valley into a playground a few years ago and they voted against a town mask mandate this summer.

Fred Messer is running against Paul Hartshorn who opposed the mask mandate. Fred understood the need to protect our community. Fred will bring a needed new voice to the select board.

If you do not have a ballot, you can request one from the town clerk at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by calling 496-2218 ext. 3.
