To The Editor:

I am writing to support the change to the Waitsfield town charter to make it an option for the town of Waitsfield to have discussions with its neighbors here in the Mad River Valley. Participants in any issue need to be able to have the ability to work with their neighbors to be able to resolve issues and participate in democracy. Although I am not 100 percent in favor of our local option tax discussion in its current form, that issue and future issues will present themselves and we need to be able to have discussions at the same table with the other towns to how we can work together. Democracy takes effort, is messy, and does not please everyone, but it is still a great institution where people can get the changes that they need – be it for or against an issue.
