To The Editor:
The Waitsfield PTA extends its deepest appreciation to everyone who shopped at this past Saturday’s Ski & Skate Sale, from those who consigned items to sell, those who shopped, and the dedicated volunteers. We know many of you participated in all three ways – we are grateful for your tremendous support!
The annual Waitsfield School Ski & Skate sale has been part of our community since 1979, growing and improving every year. The sale has expanded from privately consigned goods to also include professional vendors. This year, in addition to 255 private consignors, the sale included 15 vendors offering their goods at great prices. The Waitsfield PTA Ski & Skate Sale, which falls around the second weekend in November each year, is one of the later in the season of events of its kind. As such, particularly good deals can be found. We’ve received some great feedback on continuing improvements made to the sale: our barcode system allows consignors to see, in real time, what items have sold and our crew of dedicated volunteers keeps the sale highly organized. Perhaps most amazing of all is that the school returns to its normal business the Monday after the sale with little out of place.

The snow on the slopes raises excitement for winter and the sale is a terrific way to outfit everyone for any sort of outdoor snowy adventure. In addition to skis and skates of all kinds, the sale also includes snowboards, snowshoes and soft goods from socks and base layers to hats and coats.

The PTA’s portion of the sale proceeds are used to support our winter sports program, artist-in-residence, weekly outdoor education program, field trips and much more. With dwindling federal funds and tight budgets, the PTA’s direct support of programming is an important component of our school’s vibrancy. Thank you.

Mark your calendars now. We look forward to seeing you at next year's sale on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
