Add these organizations to the volunteer fire department, ambulance squad, select boards, and DRBs and we have a huge opportunity to contribute. We all should be conscious of where we spend our energy, and make sure that it is being spent on positive, productive, movement toward strengthening our community and unifying the efforts of its volunteers.

I have been a member of Rootswork for many years, including having served on the board. I speak for myself when I say it is time to move on. The Rootswork board has been struggling with the Schoolhouse Market in one form or another for eight years, consuming more energy than most people want to admit. Over the years, Rootswork has lost many great people because of the politics. I am talking about really great people simply looking to contribute to their community but not wanting to spend their time fighting. I frankly commend these people for their choice to conserve their energy and peacefully move on to find another organization needing their help.

There are many allegations being tossed around which are frankly not true but also not provable without unnecessary harm to individuals. There is no injustice going on here except that people are getting involved when it is too late. Trust me when I say that our community does not need this fight; and that we should put our energy into building the membership and involvement of these community sponsored organizations. Two sayings fit well here: "Think globally and act locally" and "The world is run by those who show up." Please join me in becoming a member of more than one of these organizations and vote.
