In this case the equation is very simple since methane is the most fundamental hydrocarbon. One molecule of methane (CH4) plus two molecules of O2 produces two molecules of H20 (water) plus one molecule of CO2. The good news is that unlike other fuels such as oil, coal or (worst of all) wood, methane does not produce any higher molecular weight hydrocarbons that contribute to pollution.
