How much of the taxpayers’ money and resources are we going to spend chasing this one issue? I recall going to a meeting at Harwood when this issue about Denise first surfaced about a year ago and thinking that the easy solution would have been just to not renew her contract the following year if she did not pass a test. A common sense approach since she already had a contract and had worked in the school for so many years.

The cost to the taxpayers in this plan would be minimal. Instead the administration chose conflict with lawyers, people’s time and resources which will have a large impact on the taxpayers and our community. This is the type of attitude that the Occupy Wall Street movement is based upon, the 1 percent making decisions that the 99 percent of us have to pay for.

Find the courage with this one specific case and take a page out of The Last Lecture given by the late Randy Pausch.

Apologize to the person, admit that you made a mistake and ask how you can make it right.
