Warren dam is still alive

To The Editor:

I am writing to correct a headline in the January 2 issue of The Valley Reporter. The timber crib dam in Warren has not been turned over to the state. For years the Warren Village Dam Preservation Trust (WVDPT) has been exploring strategies for repairing and preserving the historic dam in Warren Village. A major obstacle has been securing permission from the state agency of natural resources. Nonetheless, the WVDPT has decided to keep trying to save the dam because it is such an integral part of the historic character of The Valley.

On February 4, at 7 p.m., the WVDPT will meet on the top floor of the Warren Town Hall to discuss strategies for the continued effort to save the dam. Anyone interested in this project is encouraged to attend.
