The Valley Reporter prints police reports which come from the Vermont State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s department. The Valley Reporter does not discriminate in its printing of press releases from law enforcement officials and cannot fairly withhold releases at the request of readers or people referenced in the press releases.

It is the policy of The Valley Reporter to publish alleged incidences of DUI, including printing names of drivers named in police reports. This is a new policy, effective April 3, 2008. The newspaper announced last week that DUI reports would be published as part of an effort to keep readers apprised of the number of DUI incidences, but that names would not be published. After further consideration, The Valley Reporter will publish names.
