The Mad River Resource Management Alliance (MRRMA), the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and Casella Resource Solutions are sponsoring the Fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection on October 14, 2023 at Crossett Brook Middle School on Route 100 in Duxbury from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for residents Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield, Warren and Waterbury. MRRMA residents can bring pesticides, architectural oil and latex paint and primary batteries to this event at no charge and can also bring an additional ten gallons of liquid or ten pounds of solids at no additional charge. After that, there is a $5.00 per unit fee. For those who are not residents in the MRRMA there is a $20.00 registration fee and no free disposal of the ten additional units of waste. Small businesses must preregister by October 11, 2023 indicating what will be brought so organizers can determine costs for this waste disposal. Business waste will only be accepted between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.

People can bring mercury thermostats to the event and get a card to send in for a $5.00 rebate per thermostat. The thermostat must include its cover. Bring mercury fever thermometer and get a digital replacement for your thermometer. One digital per family. Compressed gases, fire extinguishers, ammunition, E. waste, tires, explosives, medical waste or radioactive waste are not accepted, nor are  compact fluorescent lamps or fluorescent tubes.
