Professor Luce describes himself as a "wind guy" and worked to secure tax incentives that made possible a large wind farm in New Mexico. Smith lives off the grid and on the land and works statewide on issues of sustainability. Both have experience with renewable energy efforts nationally and in Vermont and will offer insights into the regulatory and technical aspects of the industrial wind debate.

Friends of the Northfield Ridge presents the information as the towns of Waitsfield, Moretown and Northfield are the subject of a commercial wind farm feasibility study by Citizens Wind. Its members planned this presentation to begin a community-wide dialog concerning the pros and cons of industrial wind development.

"After examining industrial wind project descriptions and details, we have many questions and concerns related to the efficiency and impacts of these power plants and are beginning to understand that Vermont ridgelines are simply not appropriate sites for utility-sized wind turbines. We have also discovered that there are viable alternatives that make a lot of sense," said Friends of the Northfield Ridge president David Howe.
