"We're really honored that Governor-elect Shumlin would choose Sugarbush as the venue for his Inaugural Celebration. . . . He came here in the fall for a Vermont Chamber of Commerce luncheon and said to me afterwards how much he liked the feel of the base area. He said it felt 'very Vermont' to him," said Sugarbush president Win Smith.

All hands have been on deck at Sugarbush this week preparing for the event which will have a Vermont theme, said company spokesperson and vice president of marketing Candice White.

At the inaugural ball, Sugarbush will serve a variety of Vermont finger foods.  Timbers Restaurant will serve as a milking parlor featuring Vermont dairy products. Castlerock Pub will be remade as an orchard where Vermont fruit products will be offered.

The Gate House Lodge will become the barnyard where Vermont poultry, Sugarbush chowder and local pork will be available. And, at the request of the governor-elect, there will be a late-night mini-Mackenzie hot dog station, White reported.

Entertainment for the ball will include a collection of Vermont musical acts. The Vermont inaugural all-stars will include Dave Grippo, Brian McCarthy, Russ Lawton, Ray Paczowski, Bob Wagner, Lowell Thompson, D Davis and Jon Rogone.

Many attendees will be staying at Clay Brook for the night and skiing the next day.
