On Wednesday, May 25 at the 2011 Vermont Business & Industry EXPO Small Dog Electronics was awarded with the Deane C. Davis Outstanding Business of the Year. Don Mayer, CEO of Small Dog Electronics in Waitsfield, VT, received the award from co-sponsors Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Business Magazine. Mayer was also congratulated in person by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin.

According to co-sponsor Vermont Business Magazine's webiste the Deane C. Davis Award, named for the former Vermont Governor, is given to "the Vermont company that embraces the unshakeable values that Davis brought to his office: enhancing the economy and championing the environment with the help of business and satisfied employees."

Mayer was also the recent recipient of the Vermont Business for Social Responsibility Terry Ehrich Award for excellence in socially responsible business.
