Pierson is joining the Moretown Elementary School as principal.
The new administrative leadership team is comprised of existing staff. The board took that action by unanimous vote at its meeting on June 15. Lisa Atwood, the current associate principal for grades 7 to 12, will become the interim principal. Jean Berthiaume, current head of the social studies department, will become the associate principal for grades 7 to 12. Sue Duprat will remain as athletics/activities director and Michael Woods as special education director.
After the resignation of Pierson, a hiring search that began in May did not generate finalist candidates for the position of principal for HUHS board consideration. A full search for Harwood Union’s next principal will begin in the fall that will allow for a longer timeline and broader participation by all constituents.
