Moretown, VT 12/8/11 – Vermont Route 100B in Moretown is closed between Steven’s Brook Road to the south through old Route 100 to the north for a two vehicle collision.  A 911 call came in at approximately 12:45 p.m. this afternoon reporting a collision between a propane truck and another vehicle, just north of the town of Moretown.

Moretown Fire, Waitsfield Fire, and the Mad River Valley Ambulance responded to the scene for extrication, hazmat and medical response. Vermont State Police troopers from Middlesex Barracks, along with members of the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and continue to investigate the crash.

Traffic is being detoured around the closure starting at the intersection of Route 100 and Route 100 B, just south of Moretown. Travel Route 100 north to Waterbury, take Route 2 east to Middlesex, then take Route 100B south to Moretown.

The road will be closed for several hours while the propane tanker is unloaded and the vehicle is removed. When the road re-opens, an update will be issued. If any other significant changes occur, an update will be issued.

Several people were injured as a result of the accident. No other specific details are available at this time, as the accident is under investigation.

On December 8, 2011, Vermont State Police advise that due to an accident, VT Route 100B in Moretown, from the old Route 100 intersection south for about 1/2 a mile, will be closed for an extended period of time.
