The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is happy to host the Souper Bowl on Sunday, February 10, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Souper Bowl was originally started in 2008 by the Mad River Localvores. This community event features soups prepared by chefs at Mad River Valley restaurants. Guests bring their own bowls and enjoy a variety of hot soups. It ran successfully for three years, led by Robin McDermott and Nancy Baron, with sell-out crowds. Now, after two years off, the Souper Bowl is back due to popular demand.

“This is a great event for us to bring back to the Round Barn Farm,” said Janice Hurley Hollis, operations manager of the Inn at the Round Barn Farm. “We are excited to open the barn to the community so all can enjoy not only the space but the great local food that we have here in The Valley.”

Local area restaurants have been very supportive of bringing back this event. Adam Longworth, chef at The Common Man Restaurant, has been one of the event’s biggest supporters. “I am very excited to work alongside fellow chefs, restaurateurs and food producers here in The Valley,” Longworth said. “This is a great opportunity for us to get out of our restaurants, mingle with the community and just have fun.”

This year will feature the Mad Mountain Scramblers, a local bluegrass band. A percentage of the profits will go to the Mad River Food Shelf and the Mad River Valley Food and Farm Initiative, a new project here in The Valley, led by Charles Menard, executive chef of the Round Barn Farm. “The Mad River Valley Initiative is comprised of area food producers, farmers and chefs to build community, produce events and create a better awareness of the Mad River Valley food systems,” said Menard. “This is a great way to kick off more events to benefit the initiative.”
