Who else could claim to be pro-American while destroying the very ideals that make us proud? As I left the Republican Party my parents would remind me that: "We don't torture. We have the right to a trial, we have the biggest middle class in the world..." all things the Republicans have destroyed and yet claim to love.

So what do you love, Republicans? This is the truly, most destructive hypocrisy of the new Republicans: the claim of love of country which, in fact, is a hatred of the things that have made the USA great, the things that make for true democracy.

We know you hate our government proudly. We know you hate the actual land itself, wanting only to get what you can, then leave it to future generations to repair the damage. We already know you hate the ideals of the U.S.A. like only prosecuting defensive wars, allowing the accused to face his accuser, having a humane prison system without torture, allowing a person the right to determine what's right for her body, equality for all regardless of sexual orientation and mostly the empowerment of common working people to be politically equal to the rich and politically powerful. Basically, you hate democracy.

You seem to hate all but the 30 percent or so who agree with you.

So, in the end, I think what you love, have an almost religious devotion to, is unfettered capitalism. You believe the rich are rich because they deserve to be rich and everybody else should just get in line to receive what the rich dish out. Democracy is fine until it gets in the way of the rich getting richer. If we want to get together to make sure we have cheap, adequate health care, that's bad...even though other countries treat themselves to free health care without going into debt. We might hurt the rich insurance executives. It might show that a little socialism works just fine, just like Social Security and Medicare are so frightening because they work so well and are socialistic. Our education system was the best in the world while it was socialistic. Our socialist road system was the best in the world. But all this took a progressive tax system where rich people paid their fair share. But the rich were not rich enough. They wanted it all and got it, so our infrastructure is falling apart for lack of tax revenue. Your "love of America" is turning us into a second rate nation.
