Patrick J. (Pat) Collins was born June 2, 1932, in Maplewood, New Jersey, and died on December 8, 2016, in Vero Beach, FL. Pat is predeceased by his brothers, Eugene and Bill; his sister, Adele (Lois) Dalton; and his nephew and niece, John and Amanda Collins. Pat is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and countless friends. Growing up in Maplewood, New Jersey, he attended Columbia High School in South Orange, following which he attended Seton Hall University on a track scholarship. Pat served in the military during the Korean War. During the 1950s, he lived in New York City while working for AT&T. With the opening of the Sugarbush ski resort in the late 1950s, Pat relocated to Warren, Vermont, in 1960, where he owned and operated the Windbeam, a ski lodge popular with singles. During his over 50 years in the Mad River Valley, Pat was the successful owner and operator of multiple businesses including the Phoenix and Odyssey, Sugarbush Travel, as well as numerous real estate and other ventures. Pat was an avid world traveler, skier, tennis player and storyteller.
