obit DettorEdward “Eddy” Anthony Dettor of Warren passed away in peace to the sounds of his favorite jazz music surrounded by family at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vermont, on October 1, 2020. He was 77 years of age. Eddy was born on July 27, 1943, in Syracuse, New York, to Arnold A. Dettor and Marian Dettor (née Farrell). He attended Nottingham High School where he played football among other sports. He grew up vacationing with his family at Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. In his teenage and young adult years he worked summers at the Waldheim Resort on the lake. These places would remain a cherished part of his life with frequent return visits including with his own children. He attended Syracuse University for two years eventually moving to the Mad River Valley partway through his studies and completing his degree at the University of Vermont while living and working in The Valley. He majored in botany and geography, but his actual career took a different turn as over the years he worked most consistently as a bartender and also as a self-taught photographer. He enjoyed his work as a bartender because he said he loved hearing people’s stories and meeting people from all walks of life. He worked at many notable businesses in The Valley including Season's Resort, Wunderbar, The Den and The Blue Tooth, among others.

Eddy was preceded by his parents and sister Judi Farranto of Syracuse, New York. He is survived by his daughter Adeline of Cambridge, Massachusetts; son Nicholas of Brooklyn, New York; sister Lynne McCormick of Syracuse; his eight nieces and nephews: Margo, Amy, Molly, Joey, Brian, Emily, John and Traci; and ex-wife Karen of Warren.

There will not be any public services at this time. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Harwood High School Music Department. Given the absence of service and reception the family welcomes and hopes that those who knew Eddy will share condolences, stories and remembrances on the online guestbook at perkinsparker.com or legacy.com.

Eddy will be missed, and loved, forever.
